Building Resiliency in the World of Oncology

Video

As the number of patients and survivors continues to increase, it is important that clinician burnout is handled appropriately, explains Thomas A. Gallo.

Thomas A. Gallo, MS, MDA, president of the Association of Community Cancer Centers (ACCC), discusses the importance of preventing clinician burnout in the world of oncology — something seen in academic and community centers alike.

Gallo chose his 2018-2019 president’s theme to be “Reignite: Building a Resilient Cancer Care Team in Your Community.” Health care professionals are currently facing a number of stressors, such as budgetary limitations. It is crucial that the health care system addresses these issues now because, as the population ages, the pool of patients and survivors is growing, yet fewer people are going into the field of oncology.
