This was a great article. I think it is so beneficial for therapy dogs to visit patients. Dogs love unconditionally and there is a serenity about them that calms you. The one thing I would like to see more of is home visits. Cancer is such an isolating disease and many survivors can't get out and are home bound due to either their illness, treatment or side effects and it is very lonely. My husband is a 17 brain tumor survivor but is homebound due to many of the treatments he had and their long-term effects. It is very isolating. He is not a dog person as he had a few bad experiences as kid and even he is saying he would like a therapy dog visit. He is the one who sent me this article. If anyone knows of a place that offers in-home therapy dog visits in San Jose, California, I would love to know. Again, what a great service!
