Bunmi Ishola's Biography

What I do at CURE: As the editorial assistant, I do a lot of different things. Short description: I provide editorial and clerical support for the magazine and other products. I respond to reader e-mails, fact-check articles, proof copy, do research ... whatever's needed.

What I like about working for CURE: Getting to check the mail! I mean, who doesn't like to get mail?!? But on a more serious note, I really enjoy being a part of helping people on their various parts of their cancer journey. It makes every minute of working here worth it.

What I do when I'm not working at CURE: I read a lot, love to hang out with friends and family, sing … and I also watch a lot of reality TV--but only competitive stuff.

My journey before CURE included: Let's see... I worked in a bookstore, tutored math and English, substitute taught, was a full-time babysitter/part-time nanny, and interned at a few newspapers and magazines, but CURE is my first real full-time job! ...So I guess you can say it's the start of my journey.

Interesting fact about myself: My family is originally from Nigeria, so I lived there for almost six years ... and I skipped some grades, so I finished high school and started college when I was 16.

Something I dislike: Dairy products (so I don't really eat ice cream, yogurt, cheese, or chocolate ... sad, I know) and pets. While other people's pets can be cute, I'd rather take care of a million kids than own a pet.

My favorite smell: The air after it has rained or snowed. It's so fresh and so clean!

My favorite quote: "And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love." - 1 Corinthians 13:13

Something I'm proud of: Finishing 93 books in 2009. Although I was a little disappointed that I was so close to, but didn't reach, 100.
