What I do at CURE: As managing editor of curetoday.com, I manage CURE’s website, as well as attend oncology meetings and interact with readers via Facebook and Twitter.
What I like about CURE: I enjoy having a job that I’m passionate about. My work at CURE allows me to help people, be creative, and use my education in both science and journalism.
What I do when I’m not working at CURE: drinking coffee, doing yoga, baking, reading, and attending Ole Miss football games.
My journey before CURE included: After internships in a couple of laboratories and at a statewide newspaper, I decided to pursue science journalism—writing about science, as opposed to “doing” science. I’ve also worked as a copyeditor for oncology journals.
Interesting fact about myself: I’ve had about 13 surgeries, and most were before I was 18.
Something I dislike: I hate public speaking (anything more than a group of three) and liquid medicine (I much prefer shots).
My favorite sound: An orchestra tuning up
My favorite quote: “This too will pass,” which is helpful advice in good times and bad.
My favorite birthday: Not only did my husband treat me to front-row tickets to Madonna for my 30th birthday, he actually went with me.
