Lemonade824 Uterine Cancer

I was diagnosed with Uterine Cancer in 2002 after an D+C then a Cone Operation then a Radical Hysterectomy with Lymph Nodes taken out then a Cystostomy because it went to my bladder because my doctor kept putting me off saying my bleeding for ten months straight was menapause I could have died in eight months if I had not found myself another GYN. I finally got a wonderful GYN that is also an oncologist now he has cancer his self and has retired. I am sorry for that but my problem is after working all week I feel I need to get away from people and I hide all wekend in my closet in my bedroom of my condo and I am frighten to go out. What has happen to me since this operation? I have never discussed this with any of my doctors or two older sisters. I am 55 years of age. I have never had any friends growing up because my mother was always mean and strict. She never even told me about my period. I had to be told by a Franciscan nun while sitting on a toilet with pains in my stomache and blood coming out. Do I need help?

RE: Lemonade824 Uterine Cancer

Dear Lemonade,
I was diagnosed in July of 2006 with Uterine Serous Papillary Carcisona. I am in remission. I was fortunate to be able to join a gyn cancer support group...now I'm the president and our primary mission is education and awareness of gyn cancers. Being able to be with other cancer survivors is so healing because they understand your fears and emotions. www.cancercare.org has people you can talk to about emotions and cancer and I believe it is free. From their homepage, click on "get help". Isolating yourself will only cause or deepen depression. It is time to celebrate being alive! Blessing to you.
