Stage 4 Breast Cancer Survivor

Hi Everyone,
This is my first time posting to a board but I am wondering if there is anyone out there dealing w/stage 4 brst cancer - triple negative? Over the last few months I had been given Taxol and Avastin at Hopkins and so far it looks like the spots on my lungs have collapsed...yipeee! However, I worry all the time about this coming back to haunt me or it returning somewhere else. If there's anyone out there in a similar situation I would love to hear from you!

Signed,
Hope4Cure

RE: Stage 4 Breast Cancer Survivor

I was diagnosed with Stage IV, estrogen positive just one year ago. There were 5 tumors in my liver. I did 5 months of Taxol and now take Femara. I was told I would live 6 months to 3 years. I am determined to make this a chronic disease, not the end of the road. We (my husband and I) find that we live from CT scan to CT scan. When we have a good one (tumors stable), we rejoice in a 3-month reprieve! Anyone else out there living like that?

Hey, Punky! I too have Stage IV breast cancer that has spread to my bones. I live from scan to scan every 2-3 months and have monthly injections/infusions of Zometa and Faslodex. I try my best to just enjoy each day. I continue to teach 3rd grade full time and find something to laugh about every day. I never asked how long I had. I have a chronic disease and I will live just as long as the good Lord wants me to. Keep your chin up - even when you hurt. Been there- done that! Julie

I am a teacher also, Julieanne. I retired 6 years ago though. I can't imagine teaching while fighting cancer. My big frustration now is looking around at all that needs to be done around our 2 houses to get ready for winter. Gardens to put to bed, furniture brought in, etc. I get tired so quickly and have very little motivation going on. I am tired of feeling tired!
