Mark G. Malkin, M.D., professor of Neurology at the Virginia Commonwealth University, discusses the possibility of using viruses to treat glioblastoma.

Two early-phase studies showed survival benefit for this subset of patients with brain cancer when viruses were used to deliver a gene of interest to the tumor. The next logical step, Malkin says, is to extend these trials to a larger cohort of patients.
