Diane Zipursky Quale, co-founder of the Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network, discusses the importance of patients discussing their treatment options with their physician before undergoing surgery.

Many patients with muscle-invasive bladder cancer are faced with the option of having their bladder removed, which impacts quality of life, including sexual activity following surgery, Quale says.

Quale encourages patients to speak with their physicians to learn what their options are, as well as what they can expect their life to be like following surgery.
