FDA approves the first cancer drug for dogs

The Food and Drug Administration announced today that it has approved the first drug to treat cancer in dogs. The FDA gave Palladia (toceranib phosphate) the green light for a type of canine skin tumor called mast cell tumor. Read more on the FDA's website.When this alert came across my desk today, I immediately thought of Major, the "baby girl" my husband and I adopted from the Town Lake Animal Shelter in Austin, Texas, seven years ago.
