Making plans for ASCO 2011

Article

Just received my invitation to register for the American Society of Clinical Oncology annual meeting this year. This is the "big one," the meeting where more than 30,000 oncologists, researchers, industry representatives (and journalists like us) converge on Chicago to learn the latest research and trends in cancer care. This year the theme is "Patients. Pathways. Progress." The ASCO website states: This year, we expect educational and scientific sessions will have an extensive focus on patient and survivor care, including topics like cancer-related complications, quality-of-life management and end-of-life care. Sounds promising. The meeting, which will be held June 3-7, barely makes it into our Summer issue, which means you'll get up-to-date information from our Breaking News section. We'll be reporting on the "hot topics" in the magazine, but if you sign up for our e-newsletter CURExtra you'll receive additional news and blogs from the conference. You can read our ASCO coverage from 2010 here. So, what are you hoping to hear about from the meeting? Let us know and we'll keep an ear out for you!
