The other issue with false hope, especially if there is no or minimal science behind it, is people who skip science because this sounds better, then go with snake oil. A recent study came out that found that people, on average, who went with "alternative" and "natural" "cures" died sooner than those who went the science based route. I get sick and tired of most of the cancer lists repeatedly allowing people to post about snake oil as if it was a real treatment that has some valid scientific research behind it that it actually does what it is supposed to do. That raises false hope in people too. No testimonials are not science. No a study in mice doesn't mean it will work in humans. No a study with just a couple of dozen people is enough... And if the website trashes "big bad pharma" that is a warning sign, claims doctors and pharma are suppressing the cure for cancer so they can make money off of us, If the person is selling what they are touting those are warning signs too.

This is a very well written article. It is factual and forthright. I appreciate the author's realistic hope. It seems this realistic approach to hope would lead a person to live fully in the present, to live life as fully as one can in the moment. Sometimes living in the present can be very difficult and painful. I am all for living life with the joy I have available to me. For me,Trusting in the state of affairs in cancer research and treatment is very difficult. It seems that a cure will never be found simply because there is too much money to be made in treatment and research. Cancer is big business. There is a huge gravy train about the whole enterprise. To ponder that makes me both angry and sad. I try to focus on those who have been cured and those who have had a number of remissions and lengthening of life. I rejoice that I have been cured of cancer twice: both lung cancer and fallopian tube cancer. I have received treatment from smart and compassionate people.Sadly, others have been lead astray.

Cancer is becoming a big pharma industry day by day. And they put more focus on earing instead of proper treatment. So they should change this behavior and try to put their primary focus on treatment and also they need to produce cheap medicine for it so people can get it easily. I think it's better if they can get any harble procurement for this. Regards, Tabby's Spotlessly Clean
