Thank you for this great article, Diana. Please accept my heartfelt condolences on the loss of your husband. Having used hospice services and caring for my husband at home, I can deeply relate to Diana's experience with hospice. Being grateful and counting my blessings is my newest hobby. My journey with hospice was not as seamless as Diana's, however, and there were days that I felt they did not know me and did not try to know me or my husband. I am grateful I had my mother-in-law as a team member to care for her son, my husband, during the end of his too-short life. I am grateful we saw eye-to-eye each step along the way and there was never any differences in our views as to how to best care for him. The privilege of being there for my husband at this tender time was granted to me by hospice. I think I would have benefitted from the candor you describe by the social worker you were dealing with. Thank you, again, for sharing your experience.
