I was hoping for an answer. I am 6 years from chemotherapy and still have the same issues with the sudden blanks in my mind when trying to come up with the work. My family notices during conversations and will try and fill in the blanks. But that doesn't help in presentations. I also try to write everything down and may lists. This does help.

I, too, have cognitive impairment, and from more than one source. I had chemo in 2013, then an amniotic fluid embolism, and then more chemo in 2017. I often forget things I'm supposed to get if I don't make a note of it. I use email, Evernote, voice recordings and written notes to compensate. I will also lose my train of thought or sometimes forget words or phrases, which is so annoying to me, as I was an English major. I was told that I will never improve, only find ways of adapting. I don't see it affect my work all the time, but it does affect it. I could be a lot more productive, but I just don't have the attention span I used to.

I had brain cancer at age 29. Four tumors in my brain and hundreds drop metastasized in my spinal column. I had massive doses of chemo & radiation. Needless to say, I had really bad chemo and radiation brain. It's been a little over 11 years and I have been dealing with the mental and physical repercussions since then. To help me deal with forgetting all the time and having to write everything down I have been seeing a speech therapist regularly over the years to help me compensate. They have given me strategies on how to cope and do life a little more successfully. I hope this helps.
