Article Talk: Feeling Like Shark Bait After Cancer SurgeryArticle Talk: Feeling Like Shark Bait After Cancer Surgery
July 18, 2018
I so totally agree with this but never thought of it as feeling like shark bait but yes, I do! I look in the mirror & can\'t recognize myself, maybe don\'t even care to as i feel cancer has taken so much from me. I dont even wear shorts , barely capris as my ankles swell & I\'m deal with lymphadema in right leg. My hair is gone, 2 yrs now & I\'m sick of wigs, plus they are hot in the summer. So many people don\'t even recognise me, like I\'m in cognito. I\'m trying to figure out this new me & to move forward. I am still going through treatment & through all of this I know I am blessed as well, ...

Novel Agent May Change Landscape in Treatment of Melanoma Subset
July 17, 2016
Is this still a clinical study & if so where and are they recruiting? I know it's due to my NRAS mutation that Ipi/Nivo or IL-2 did not work, progression happened while on these treatments, spreading to bne and other tissue. This sounds like it could be very promising! A newer chemotherapy has been now recommended in a clinical trial at Mayo Rochester which starts in 3 weeks. Paclitaxel Albumin-Stabilized Nanoparticle Formulation and Bevacizumab in Treating Patients with Stage IV Melanoma that Cannot be Removed by Surgery. I'm unsure about this but I'm not seeing many options. i feel one oncologist says this will be good, the other feels it may not.I am really at a loss but dont have allot of time to be check other

Living As If: Life Without Cancer
April 14, 2016
Wow, did this hit home for me!! I find it so hard to put into words but find others who actually "speak" for me, thank you. I thought I was home free 3 1/2 yrs ago when I was diagnosed with melanoma on the sole of my foot, had surgery and it was gone. Lat Aug, i developed a lump in my leg. Was put on yervoy/opdivo for 3 months, developed another lump in leg, so had surgery in Jan. Cancer Rechecks: Coping With Worry and Waiting
February 10, 2016
I haven't learned to cope yet, fear always takes over. You described my day to a tee. I'm angry right now and hate this journey and mourn the loss of "me" and my life before this. I feel like my body is turning against me, another surgery & a huge scar added to it. I'm on Opdivo, praying that it will keep away any cancer cells that may be lurking somewhere!!!! I was on the combo of Yervoy and Opdivo previously. Just at a loss right now, too much to take in, besides going through this, I'm dealing with a broken shoulder/elbow of 2 months ago, right before the surgery on my leg.....adding 2 more scars and 2 plates. I have faith and I am worried

Fine-Tuning the Treatment of Melanoma
September 15, 2015
I had melanoma 2 1/2 yrs ago on the sole of my foot and 2 surgeries later, I thought I was cancer free. I recently found a lump in my leg, biopsy revealed melanoma and its been 6 weeks total waiting for appts, pet scans and and a plan of action. Pet scan actually showed 2 spots on my thigh, the one has grown and now I am going for an mri to see if it has invaded the muscle. My Dr and I discussed surgery to remove both and then the immunotherapy of Opdivo. As of today, I believe we are going for the combination immunotherapy of Opdivo and possibly yervoy, I got so much info today, I am not sure. Do this first ...

It Gets Better After the Shock of an Initial Cancer Diagnosis
August 28, 2015
Perfect timing to get this.......I just had a biopsy today for a lump on my leg, preliminary results, melanoma is back. I was diagnosed with melanoma in Jan 2013, had surgery on the bottom of my foot and a second surgery in March to remove my groin lymphnodes. I have ct scans twice yrly and dermatologists appts.which have all been clear of melanoma. This lump appeared on my inner thigh just this month so I am in the midst of that "fear of reoccurance" actually happening! I dont know what my drs plan of action will be yet but I am trying hard to process this and I can't yet.
