Breast Reduction or Mastectomy: Yoga and Cancer

Wow - Such an interesting dilemma! Really can relate -- As a uterine cancer survivor myself, the daughter of a breast cancer survivor, having had cancer scattered all over my family tree, I have wondered about genetic testing. Years ago my doctor pointed out that since I have already had a complete hysterectomy, the only thing left to do if I turned out positive for the BRCA gene would be a prophylactic mastectomy. And like you, I don't know whether I would do that or not. Great article. Thank you for sharing your experience with us!

Focus on Yoga: Yoga and Cancer

I could not agree more about the need for healing interventions *now* for cancer patients and survivors, and yoga certainly fills the bill. I can say this with authority as both a cancer survivor (15 years this month!) and a yoga teacher. As for balance - Although I have been practicing for over 10 years now, I am still very challenged by balance. It never occurred to me until reading this article that chemotherapy may have had something to do with it. So does this mean my problems with balance are not a moral failing?!Lol I will practice the mindful walking, too.
