Post-Mastectomy Tattooing: A Personal Decision

Video

For some breast cancer survivors, 3D nipple tattooing is the right choice. Others may turn to body art or choose to do nothing at all.

What breast cancer survivors do after they undergo a mastectomy is a highly personal decision. For Corinne Greiner, a Texas native who has been battling the disease for the past two years, 3D nipple tattooing was the right choice for her.

Greiner underwent a mastectomy, chemotherapy and radiation. Over the summer, she was at a public pool when a child accidentally saw her changing. The girl seemed confused and frightened that Greiner had no nipples, which made the survivor contemplate the options that were best for her.

"It'll help me feel more complete," Greiner said in an interview with CURE at New Jersey's Beau Institute 8th Annual Day of Hope, a day of celebration where breast cancer survivors are offered nipple tattooing free of charge.
