Charles Balch Discusses Project Innovation

Project Innovation is a consortium led by the National Patient Advocate Foundation to raise public awareness about the need to  accelerate the delivery of new treatments to patients.

It is an initiative supported by a national coalition of healthcare organizations to reduce the regulatory and logistical obstacles that delay drug development, encourage a new wave of experimentation through research funding, and enhance the delivery of innovation through improved communication and coordination between providers and patients.

"Patients need to understand the importance and safety of doing clinical trials," explains Charles Balch, director of the Johns Hopkins Clinical Research Network. "The standard treatment of today was actually someone's clinical research of yesterday."
