In just 10 days, Sue began her journey with Merkel cell carcinoma — a rare type of skin cancer that usually appears as a flesh-colored or bluish-red nodule, often on your face, head or neck.
She underwent seven surgeries on the left side of her nostril before receiving chemotherapy and radiation.
“There was so little research at the time,” she recalled.
