What is more important, the Destination or the Journey?

August 18, 2022

I had the opportunity to join the Sole 2 Soul for MPN™ team in Canada, a five-day journey filled with uncertainty, spectacular views, bears, physical effort, support and friendship. Additionally, it was a great chance for me to connect with nature and reflect on life.

I started this blog with this question because we always think about the end goal or destination, forgetting about the journey and most importantly forgetting about those next to us, those willing to sacrifice their own time and dreams to make sure we feel safe, listened and supported.

Last week was a perfect example to reflect about this because at the beginning of the trip, I was just thinking about being able to accomplish the goal and did not think about the journey and that caused a lot of stress instead of letting me enjoy the moment. Although, just few hours after meeting the team, or “the company,” something changed and I started feeling like I was surrounded by old friends and family, and that changed my whole experience, enjoying then every moment of good conversations, learning about everyone’s journeys, laughs and creating memories that will last forever.

I still remember that every day was a new adventure; we all had many questions, some participants had more challenges than others did but at the end, none was left behind and it was always a good opportunity to learn from each other and support.

Bringing this reflection to the MPN community made me think about their journey and made me reflect about how important being a good company can affect their lives in a positive way. As I mentioned before, these rare chronic cancers move in silence but as any other cancer types, we should all be aware and provide support in any possible way.

I am lucky to have the opportunity to join the Sole 2 Soul for MPN™ team and to call those who participated my friends. To be able to do my part to give back to the lives of those living with cancer, instill hope in their minds and inspire other patients, this trip has been a life-changing experience and I am hopeful that through our continued efforts to raise awareness and continued research that there will one day be a cure for cancer.

If I can provide a recommendation that will be: Get closer to the MPN community and learn, then you will find your way to support. Again, thank you all for letting me be part of your journey and thank you to the inaugural Sole 2 Soul for MPN™team for influencing my life in such a remarkable way!

The answer is the company!
