Ownership and Basic Permissions

All products created and published by CURE Media Group and the contents thereof (including but not limited to text, graphics, software, interfaces, files, and data found on the sites and in print products) are the property of and owned by CURE Media Group or its licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark and other laws of the United States and other countries.

CURE Media Group grants you a revocable license to display and electronically copy, download and print hard copy versions of the material contained on the site for your personal and noncommercial use, provided you 1) keep intact all copyright and other proprietary notices, 2) make no modifications to the materials, 3) do not use the materials in a manner that suggests an association with any of our products, services, or brands, and 4) do not download quantities of materials to a database that can be used to avoid required permissions. CURE Media Group also grants a revocable license to electronically copy no more than 50 words of an article (must be first 50 words of article; no excerpts allowed) for posting on an external website (applies to text only), which must include a link back to the applicable CURE Media Group webpage that includes said article. Summary of content is permitted pending approval of summary text by CURE Media Group. No translation of any material is permitted. No other use of any CURE Media Group material is licensed, and you agree that you will not make any other use of the material, including but not limited to the copying, modification, distribution, transmission, performance, broadcast, publication, licensing, reverse engineering, transfer or sale of, or the creation of derivative works from, any of the contents.

Requesting Permission

You may request permission to reproduce, license or distribute content (text, photos, illustrations, tables) from the following:

  • CURE (print version [regular issues, special issues, and patient guides])

  • CURE (online version [web-exclusive content and CURExtra])

  • Heal (2007-2008 print versions only)

  • Other online content produced by CURE Media Group, including CURE and/or Heal

  • Baylor Innovations (2007 print versions only)

  • CURE Media Group Books Division

Reproduced content must appear in its entirety for permission request to be considered; no excerpts allowed. Reproduced illustrations and graphics must retain original captions for permission request to be considered. Further details on use and restrictions are covered in Content License Agreement, which you will receive if permission/licensing request is approved.

To request permission, please send us a request via fax, mail, or e-mail with the following information:

  1. Your name, institution/affiliation, and title

  2. Your complete mailing address, phone number, fax number, and e-mail address

  3. Content you wish to use:

    1. Where content originally appeared (see above bulleted listing)

    2. Title/headline

    3. Name of author, photographer, or illustrator

    4. Volume number, issue date, page numbers, URL (provide all that apply)

  4. How you will use content:

    1. In a print product:

      1. Title of publication in which CURE Media Group material will appear

      2. ditor(s)

      3. Expected publication date

      4. Company name

      5. Whether company is a for-profit or nonprofit organization (nonprofits must provide a copy of the federal Form 990)

      6. Retail price (if applicable)

      7. Print run/number of copies to be distributed

      8. Intended audience

    2. In an electronic product (in cases where content is available online, we may grant linking privileges rather than republication rights):

      1. Your website’s URL

      2. Website’s sponsoring organization/company

      3. Whether the sponsor is a for-profit or nonprofit organization (nonprofits must provide a copy of the federal Form 990)

      4. Description of the purpose and nature of your website

      5. Description of the website’s visitors (cancer patients, health care professionals, caregivers, etc.)

      6. Whether the site is password-protected

Note: If you wish to reproduce the material for purposes other than those described above, please write a description of your project, including the title of your project, the number of copies to be made, the format (e.g., print copies, PowerPoint presentation, poster, etc.), targeted recipients, and expected distribution date. (This applies to health care professionals, teachers, etc., who wish to use our materials in educational PowerPoint presentations or for other educational purposes.)

The site also may include trademarks, service marks or logos of other third parties. Links. As a service to our users, CURE Media Group provides links to websites operated by other persons and entities over which we have no control. Materials You Submit

This section applies to any materials you submit to or through our websites. You represent, warrant, and agree that you are responsible for any submission you make, including the legality, reliability, appropriateness, accuracy, originality and copyright of any such material. You may not use a false e-mail address, impersonate any person or entity, or otherwise mislead as to the origin of any content. You may not upload commercial content onto the site. We reserve the right (but are not under an obligation) to remove or edit any content you provide.

If you do submit material, and unless we indicate otherwise, you grant CURE Media Group and its affiliates a nonexclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, transferable and fully sublicensable right to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, create derivative works from, distribute, display and perform such content throughout the world in any media now known or hereafter invented. You grant CURE Media Group and its affiliates the right to use the name you submit in connection with such content, if we so choose.

Waiver. By submitting content to our sites, you waive and agree not to bring at any time any claims of any type whatsoever against CURE Media Group or its affiliates, or their officers, directors, employees, contractors, agents, licensors or suppliers in any way arising from or relating to the submitted content, including without limitation any claims asserting: (a) infringement of rights of publicity or misappropriation of likeness or image; (b) invasion of privacy; (c) false light (such as any allegedly false or misleading portrayal of you); (d) infliction of emotional distress (whether intentional or negligent); (e) breach of contract; (f) copyright or trademark infringement; (g) defamation; (h) fraud; or (i)
