Alaska Anticipation

August 05, 2021

My life took an amazing turn when I became part of the MMRF Events Program too many years ago for me to share! I am blessed to have a job that I am passionate about and that fuels my soul. The people I have the privilege to work with including patients, caregivers, friends and families, those in healthcare and in pharma, are the best of humanity. Whenever I get the chance to join one of our Moving Mountains for Multiple Myeloma teams for an epic hike, I am thrilled. Getting the opportunity to hike long days beside those in the myeloma community, teaches me so much and makes me better at my daily job. So, when I had the chance to lead the trek to Alaska, a bucket list destination, I jumped at it.

Alaska, and its remote land of the Midnight Sun, Northern Lights, glaciers, towering mountains and endless adventures has been calling to me almost all of my life. I am not a hardcore thrill seeker, I am more of an appreciator of new experiences and seeker of beautiful, remote landscapes. To be a part of the immense frontier that is Alaska is going to be a very humbling experience. This hike was supposed to take place in 2020, and well, we all know what happened there. It’s been a long time coming and I can’t wait to spend six days hiking through the Kenai Peninsula with my 13 teammates. The bond among us has already gelled, and I look forward to becoming one team focused on finding a cure for every multiple myeloma patient.
