My sister was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma in February 2015. It was devastating news as the disease had progressed extensively in a short time and she had a large tumor on her spine. Her battle has been a ferocious one and she continues to fight on. Today her treatments are keeping her stable and she has been doing well.
I have always enjoyed hiking and in recent years have been joining friends for an annual hike to an Appalachian Mountain Club hut in the White Mountains. When I discovered MM4MM, while googling “Fundraising for MM” I was thrilled at the possibility of participating in an activity I love and raising funds for MM research to help my sister.
I am looking forward to hiking side by side with the Mt Washington team for all those suffering with MM today, knowing our efforts will bring us closer to a cure. My sister has been able to witness the birth of her three grandchildren since her diagnosis and I hope and pray she has many, many more years with us to enjoy other family milestones through the effort of the MMRF programs.
