In a session here at ASCO's annual meeting about the financial costs of cancer, Diane Blum, director of CancerCare, said the nonprofit has put together a new group called the Cancer Financial Assistance Coalition. It's made up of 11 national organizations, and they've launched a website at www.cancerfac.org to serve as a clearinghouse for financial information and assistance. Patients can put in their ZIP code, diagnosis, and the type of care they're concerned about--housing, health insurance, drug assistance, transportation--and it instantly delivers resources to get the help you need.
