Michelle Gervino, an oncology nurse with John Theurer Cancer Center, discusses the importance of caregivers, as well as resources for both caregivers and patients.

c"I think the caregivers need just as much support as the patient," she says. "They have the new job of taking on all the new responsibilties of what that person use to do, caring for this patient and continuing everything else they have to do."
She recommends caregivers take help that's offered, seek help before it's needed, and be open to talking with a professional, such as a counselor, social worker, nurse or psychologist.
