Have you ever wondered what your life would be like if you were diagnosed with cancer and learned how to heal your mending heart? I bet your life would transform in so many different ways. At age thirty-four, a visit to the hospital resulted in receiving the biggest news of my life: I was diagnosed with colon cancer. This news ultimately turned my life around. My journey learning how to heal my heart changed my mindset and outlook in life.

After being diagnosed with colon cancer, I learned the power of my mind and how my thoughts could help me mend my heart. I quickly learned that by having that strong family support and by implementing techniques like speaking affirmations, meditation, visualization, prayers and journaling, all of which helped my process, I began to mend my heart. Slowly, I healed through self love, time and discipline.

Additionally, writing in my journal was my remedy. It helped me express my most intimate inner thoughts as a way to cope with everything that I was going through during that time. My biggest challenge, however, was completing chemotherapy. Doing journal prompts provided me faith, clarity and peace, which I needed in order to create a vigorous, healthy, optimistic mindset. My main priority was my health!

Andrew Kap, who wrote The Last Law of Attraction Book You’ll Ever Need to Read: The Missing Key to Finally Tapping into the Universe and Manifesting Your Desires, played a significant role in how I journaled. Few of my journal prompts that I wrote during that time included the following:

My perfect health is so great because it allows me to do all of things I enjoy the most. Since I am healthy, I get to spend time with my friends and family. My body is strong and is healing every day. It allows me to meditate and exercise on a consistent basis in order to have a positive mindset.

Thank you for my abundance of health. It allows me to help, inspire and encourage those around me.

One of my favorite writing pieces about life is as follows:

Dear Heavenly Father,

I want to take this opportunity to say “Thank You”. I am truly blessed for being the woman I am today. I am extremely grateful for ALL of my life lessons because it has helped me grow as a person. Thanks to my personal experiences, I have grown to become the woman I always wanted to be. I am strong, powerful, abundant, confident, hard working, successful, beautiful, anointed, blessed, healthy, loved, admired, courageous, astonishing, brave, victorious, smart, loyal, caring, selfless, but most of all I have a pure, genuine, vibrant heart. My heart is full of light. I am thankful for my blessings and those that are coming my way. Thank you God for ALL you have done for me. I am blessed and grateful for my second chance in life. I AM CANCER FREE!! I love my life.

As you can see, being diagnosed with colon cancer at such a young age impacted me from a positive light. I see this life experience as a blessing since it encouraged me to love myself more as well as live my life to the fullest. I am stronger because of it. One of the ways I view the world differently is to be FEARLESS! For this reason, I published my first book on Amazon, The Power of a Healing Heart, because being an author was a long life dream. Through this book, I share my personal journey as a way to inspire and encourage others who might also be dealing with personal heartbreak. Indeed, overcoming colon cancer has given me the opportunity to blossom in all areas of my life.
