As a part of the National Cancer Moonshot Initiative, nonprofits like the National Patient Advocate Foundation have been sharing data, such as research and patient disease information, that could lead to breakthroughs in the way patients are treated. However, not every data system is compatible with others.

Gallagher emphasized the importance of creating universal platforms so that the data can not only be shared among researchers, but also with patients and the general public.
