Maybe having a fight song can help you put the mental boxing gloves on and to continue forward in your healing.
One of my hardest times healing from cancer-related procedures was when I developed an infection which put me back into the hospital and required an emergency surgery. I went from being in a positive state of healing to having to go in for an unplanned surgery and procedures. Then I began my healing from a double mastectomy almost all over again. Initially, I fell into a negative pattern of thinking, but I had the idea to develop a playlist to help me bounce back mentally. My first playlist initially tapped into my anger and frustration rather than a more positive state. But I deleted unproductive songs and picked a fight song to help me when I needed a little extra energy and a positive tone to set the day, as well as to help embrace a fighting spirit.
While healing, I found it difficult to read, as I was unable to hold a book due to limited range of motion and because I did not have the physical strength to hold a book. But, my phone and technology were accessible. I could position my phone on my lap in a manner which allowed me to access music and a limited amount of reading material. Items I read were positive blogs, quotes and stories of individuals who overcame obstacles. For the most part, this was my lifeline for a good couple of months or so. I would reread positive materials as needed, but I also listened to my playlist and fight song for added mental strength.
The items I read and the music I listened to helped to reduce feelings of anxiety, lessened feelings of fear, and mentally prepared me to remain strong. The first song I picked to help as a mental pick me up was literally "Fight Song" by Rachel Platten, and it was what I used to mentally put the boxing gloves on.

Starting right now I'll be strong
I'll play my fight song
And I don't really care if nobody believes
'Cause I've still got a lot of fight left in me"
I love all the lyrics, but the above verse helped to keep me going. Later in 2016, I picked “Rise” by Katy Perry as another song to keep me going if I had a day or time which was more challenging.
