While is a type of blood cancer, there are actually many subtypes of the disease that can be broken into two main categories: Hodgkin lymphoma and non-Hodgkin lymphoma. From there, diseases can be categorized even further out. For example, mantle cell lymphoma is a type of B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

Current Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved treatments for mantle cell lymphoma include:
  • Chemotherapy
  • Proteasome inhibitors
  • Stem cell transplants
  • Surveillance

However, new treatments, such as chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-T cell therapy and immunotherapy, are also being explored in clinical trials, and could eventually become a promising and effective treatment for the disease.
