While you’re probably used to seeing ricotta used in savory recipes, this Strawberry, Ricotta and Basil Toast is an excellent source of protein, healthy fats and calcium thanks to this Italian whey cheese. When you add basil, which is high in vitamin K, manganese, iron and vitamins A and C, and the sweetness of fresh strawberries, this quick recipe is easy to prepare and makes a great breakfast or a filling snack.

Strawberry, Basil and Ricotta Toast Ingredients

Yields one serving

  • 1 slice whole grain bread, toasted
  • 1 Tbsp ricotta cheese
  • 3 fresh basil leaves, sliced into strips
  • 2-4 strawberries, sliced into thin strips

To serve, top toast with cheese, then add strawberries and basil. Enjoy!
