My charcoal emu was a fun piece that I completed because I always felt my hair looked like an emu&#39;s feathers as it was growing back from chemotherapy. As an ovarian cancer survivor, I have lost my hair three times! Every time I lose my hair, it grows back a different texture and color: blonde, silver and dark brown.

I feel like an Emu!  

I like to work in alcohol ink and acrylic paint. Fields of Lace is an 8X10 piece on Yupo paper, in shades of green, blue, purple and white. The lacy flowers remind me of the battle I am going through with follicular non-Hodgkin lymphoma. The treatments have created beautiful openings throughout my immune system while ironically attempting to heal me. These blossoms continue to be brave and strong and reach for the sunlight.
