Cancer Doesn’t Discriminate

Cancer chooses babies, children, young people, middle agers, old people, black, brown, yellow, white, or a mixture. Cancer doesn’t care where you live, who you love, how much money you have, how active or healthy you are, what your job is, or even what you eat, it doesn’t discriminate. Five of the people I know: my husband John (who died of an aggressive cancer in 2016), my daughter Heather (26 year survivor of thyroid cancer), my son Kris (7 year survivor of testicular cancer), Mark Nepo (38 year survivor of lymphoma) and myself Gay (survivor of breast, uterine, and kidney cancer over 28 years). The others represent the many different people I have met over the years as an art therapist working with people with cancer. We have a special camaraderie and a “knowing” that many people don’t have or understand until they join our club.
