‘The Evolving Landscape of Lung Cancer Care’ with Alfred Newman, III, MD at LiveLung Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, NC (May 5, 2026) — LiveLung, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting lung cancer patients, survivors, and their care partners, invites the Charlotte lung cancer community to its monthly educational meeting on Tuesday, May 12 at 11:30 a.m. The meeting, which includes a complimentary lunch, will take place atCovenant Presbyterian Church, 1000 East Morehead Street, Fellowship Hall, Room 205, Charlotte, NC 28204.

This month’s meeting will feature Alfred Newman, III, MD, presenting “The Evolving Landscape of Lung Cancer Care.” Dr. Newman will share an overview of current approaches to lung cancer treatment and supportive care, including how multidisciplinary teams and evolving therapies can expand options and improve quality of life.

Dr. Newman cares for adult patients with blood disorders and cancers of all types, with a focus on lung and head and neck cancers, as well as tumors of the central nervous system. As part of a comprehensive medical team, he works alongside patients and other healthcare providers to broaden care options when possible and to explore hospice and end-of-life decisions when necessary. To bring patients state-of-the-art treatments, Dr. Newman participates in multidisciplinary tumor board conferences and advisory boards for lung cancer, head and neck cancer, and hospice, and is involved in clinical research trials through Novant Health. His work with community physicians has led to recognition on the Top Doctors in Charlotte by Charlotte Magazine.
