WILMINGTON, NC- (March 26, 2025) LiveLung, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting lung cancer patients, survivors, and their care partners, invites the Wilmington community to its monthly educational meeting on Thursday, April 2, at 12:30 p.m. The meeting, which includes a complimentary lunch, will take place at Hampton Inn Wilmington- Medical Park, 2320 S 17^th Street, Wilmington, NC 28401.

This month’s featured presentation, “The Role of a Patient Educator in Your Cancer Journey,” will be led by Jayden Gurganus MSN, RN, OCN, Oncology Infusion Nurse at Novant Health.

This session will provide a practical overview of IV lung cancer treatments, including chemotherapy and immunotherapy, along with common side effects and strategies for managing them. Attendees will also gain insight into the education and resources patients receive during pre-treatment appointments, helping them feel more informed and prepared for what lies ahead.

During the presentation, participants will review key information about treatment types, side effect management, and supportive resources available through Novant Health Cancer Center, with a focus on empowering patients through education and guidance from RN patient educators.
