This month’s presentation, “The White Ribbon Project: Changing the Conversation About Lung Cancer,” will be led by Heidi Nafman-Onda, MS. During this informative session, Nafman-Onda will share how The White Ribbon Project is helping change the conversation about lung cancer by increasing awareness, reducing stigma, promoting screening, and strengthening advocacy efforts nationwide.

“The White Ribbon Project is far more than making and distributing ribbons. It has become a symbol that empowers patients and caregivers to stand up and share their stories, changing public perception, driving awareness, increasing screening rates, fueling legislative advocacy for research funding, and addressing survivorship needs.”

Heidi Nafman-Onda, MS Health Education, is a lung cancer survivor, advocate, health educator, fitness trainer, and co-founder of The White Ribbon Project. Diagnosed with Stage IIIA inoperable non-small cell lung cancer in 2018, Heidi transformed her personal experience into a mission to increase lung cancer awareness, reduce stigma, promote screening, and expand advocacy efforts nationwide. Alongside her husband, Dr. Pierre Onda, she launched The White Ribbon Project in 2020 to empower patients, care partners, and advocates to share their stories and use their voices to create meaningful change.

LiveLung’s educational meetings provide valuable resources and opportunities for lung cancer patients, survivors, and their care partners to learn, network, and build community. Each meeting features an expert guest speaker who shares insights to empower attendees with knowledge and support.
