LiveLung Charlotte Welcomes Crystal Hoberg for Discussion on New Advances in Lung Cancer Monitoring

CHARLOTTE, NC (June 2, 2026) — LiveLung, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting lung cancer patients, survivors, and their care partners, invites the Charlotte lung cancer community to its monthly educational meeting on Tuesday, May 12 at 11:30 a.m. The meeting, which includes a complimentary lunch, will take place at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 1000 East Morehead Street, Fellowship Hall, Room 205, Charlotte, NC 28204.

This month’s featured presentation, “Beyond Scans: A New Way to Monitor Lung Cancer,” will be led by Crystal Hoberg, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, a board-certified Nurse Practitioner and Medical Science Liaison at Natera. Hoberg will share insights on the evolving role of molecular residual disease (MRD) testing and circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) technologies in lung cancer care.

“Clinical research has shown that molecular residual disease testing can detect the presence of circulating tumor DNA significantly earlier than conventional imaging. This isn't just a data point; it represents a fundamental change in how we manage lung cancer. My goal is to help demystify this technology for the community, ensuring that patients understand how these molecular insights act as a 'liquid biopsy' that helps clinicians stay a step ahead of the disease.”

With more than a decade of clinical experience in hematology and oncology, Hoberg has worked in frontline patient care across the cancer continuum, specializing in the treatment and management of both solid tumors and hematologic malignancies. She now serves as a Medical Science Liaison at Natera, where she combines her deep oncology background with advanced diagnostic technologies to help bridge the gap between emerging science and real-world clinical care. Passionate about patient education, Hoberg is committed to helping patients and caregivers better understand the growing role of precision diagnostics in lung cancer care and the ways molecular insights can support more personalized treatment monitoring.
