This month’s meeting will feature Emily Kobin, MD, Palliative Care Physician at the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center and Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Internal Medicine and Public Health, Section of Palliative Care, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, presenting “Living Well with Lung Cancer: The Value of Supportive & Palliative Care.” Attendees will learn how supportive and palliative care can help people with lung cancer manage symptoms, clarify goals, and improve quality of life throughout and beyond treatment.
In her practice, Dr. Kobin focuses on listening closely to what matters most to patients and helping ensure those priorities guide their care. She also strives to create a safe space where patients and their care partners can discuss both physical and psychological concerns. Dr. Kobin’s professional interests include educating clinicians to communicate effectively with patients, strengthening the patient-provider relationship, and teaching students, residents, and fellows the importance of goals-based care. She is also committed to advancing the use of telemedicine in palliative care and served as co-principal investigator at Dartmouth-Hitchcock in a multicenter trial examining how palliative care delivered via telemedicine, compared with in-person care, affects quality of life for cancer patients.
LiveLung’s educational meetings provide valuable resources and opportunities for lung cancer patients, survivors, and their care partners to learn, network, and build community. Each meeting features an expert guest speaker who shares insights to empower attendees with knowledge and support.
