PITTSBURGH, PA (July 2, 2026) – LiveLung, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting lung cancer patients, survivors, and their care partners, invites the Pittsburgh community to its monthly educational meeting on Thursday, July 9, at 11:30 a.m. The meeting, which includes a complimentary lunch and parking, will take place at Hyatt House Pittsburgh/ Bloomfield/ Shadyside, 5335 Baum Boulevard, Pittsburgh, PA 15224.
This month’s presentation, “The New Field of Neuroarts: How the Arts Contribute to Wellness,” will be led by Deborah Elizabeth Cohen, PhD, CMRM. Dr. Cohen will explore the emerging field of neuroarts and how creative expression can support wellness, especially for individuals navigating serious health challenges. Attendees will learn how the arts, mindfulness, and integrative wellness practices can help reduce stress, enhance emotional well-being, and support overall quality of life.
As a lung cancer survivor, Certified Medical Reiki Master, arts educator, interdisciplinary artist, author, and professional writer, Dr. Cohen brings both professional expertise and personal insight to her work. Through Arts & Reiki Wellness, she provides arts-based wellness experiences and Reiki services tailored to individuals facing cancer diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship.
Dr. Cohen is certified in Writing Therapy and offers Arts-Charged Reiki™ Practitioner Training. A retired professor and researcher, she is passionate about helping individuals harness the healing power of creativity to improve mind-body wellness during life’s most challenging journeys.
