While most pancreatic cancer patient are ineligible for surgery because of the extent of the disease, 15 percent could benefit from a Whipple procedure.

Min Li, associate professor of the Vivian L. Smith Department of Neurosurgery and director of the Cancer Research Program at the University of Texas Health Sciences Health Science Center in Houston, offers dietary and lifestyle suggestions for patients undergoing the procedure.
