What: Join John Theurer Cancer Center’s Community Outreach & Engagement team and Hackensack University Medical Center's Urology experts for a free Men's Health Fair offering vital health screenings for prostate cancer, as well as other chronic conditions like high blood pressure, diabetes, asthma, lung disease, colorectal cancer and more.

This event is particularly important for individuals at a higher risk for prostate cancer, including African American men and those with a family history of the disease.

New York Giants legend Harry Carson will attend this event to share opening remarks on the importance of screenings, and reveal details of his own recent cancer journey.

About 1 in 8 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during his lifetime. African American men are at an even greater risk for developing prostate cancer over white men and other men of color. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, out of every 100 American men, about 13 will get prostate cancer during their lifetime, and about 2 to 3 men will die from prostate cancer. African American men are more than twice as likely to die from prostate cancer than other men and are also slightly more likely than white men to be diagnosed with advanced disease. Men who are at higher risk of prostate cancer, including those with a family history, will benefit most from this event.
