CURE Media Group Partners with SHARE to Expand Outreach and Support through Advocacy Spotlight Partnership Program
Collaboration enhances support network for patients fighting breast, ovarian cancers
PLAINSBORO, N.J. (March 7, 2016) -
“Ovarian cancer is the most deadly female reproductive system cancer,” said Mike Hennessy Jr., president of CURE Media Group. “SHARE has created a caring community where women, their families and caregivers find emotional support and reliable information. CURE’s Advocacy Spotlight Partnership program is proud to expand SHARE services so no one has to feel alone as they battle breast or ovarian cancer.”
SHARE began in 1976 as a support group launched by a doctor specializing in breast cancer. It quickly expanded, and in 1995, added services for women dealing with ovarian cancer. Today, this nonprofit agency helps thousands of women and men through telephone hotlines, educational programs and policy advocacy.
“SHARE’s work focuses on empowerment, education and advocacy to bring about better health care, an improved quality of life and a cure for these diseases,” said Jacqueline Reinhard, a breast cancer survivor and SHARE executive director. “Joining forces with CURE through the Advocacy Spotlight Partnership means our network can expand to better meet patient and family needs.”
SHARE connects patients and caregivers with others who know what it is like to face early stage, recurrent and metastatic disease. SHARE brings women and their families and friends together with others who have experienced breast or ovarian cancer and enables participants to receive and exchange information, support, strength and hope.
“Together, CURE and SHARE can achieve our shared goal of supporting patients, families and physicians by providing resources and information that improves treatment outcomes and quality of life,” said Hennessy.
