LiveLung Launches Chaplain Program to Support Holistic Well-Being of Lung Cancer Patients and Care Partners
LiveLung announced the launch of its new Chaplain Program.
HIGH POINT, NC (September 11, 2025) LiveLung, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting lung cancer patients, survivors, and their care partners, today announced the launch of its new Chaplain Program, a national initiative designed to address the spiritual needs of the lung cancer community.
Led by Senior Ordained Chaplain Alex Mercer, the program will provide patients, survivors, and caregivers with access to spiritual care and guidance alongside LiveLung’s existing educational, peer support, and advocacy programs. This initiative is the first of its kind at LiveLung to formally integrate chaplaincy services, ensuring that emotional and spiritual well-being are recognized as essential components of comprehensive lung cancer care.
“This is for all. It doesn’t matter what religion, what denomination, whether you’re agnostic or atheist, we want to have everyone walk away feeling loved.” says Alex Mercer, Senior Ordained Chaplain and national lead of the program. “It doesn’t matter who you are and what the need is, I want to just give you an outlet, a confidential outlet, to emote through the problem.”
LiveLung’s Chaplain Program offers free, confidential, and compassionate spiritual guidance, prayer, and/or reflective support to anyone impacted by lung cancer. It complements the nonprofit’s existing initiatives, including monthly educational meetings, peer support groups, and advocacy programs, further strengthening the holistic care LiveLung provides to the lung cancer community.
