After being diagnosed with polycythemia vera, David Wallace, who publishes PV Reporter and MPN Cancer Connection, quickly learned that he must be his own advocate.

When Wallace was first diagnosed, his primary care physician mentioned to Wallace that it might be up to a week before he saw a hematologist. Instead, Wallace did his own research and reached out to find a hematologist that can see him sooner. At that moment, he knew that he had to be his own advocate.
