Jim Kelly, NFL Hall of Famer, discusses how much a smile or a kind word can mean to someone with cancer — and he knows from experience.

Kelly was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma in 2013 and, after a complete removal of his upper jaw, faced a recurrence in 2014. However, when he was in the hospital and nurses, caregivers and friends visited him with kinds words, hugs and well wishes, his spirits were lifted. Now, inspiring others —as others encouraged him – is what keeps him going. After all, nobody knows what tomorrow holds.
